Starting Utilities
How do I start service?
If you rent, the following paperwork is necessary:
- The lease which includes the tenant(s) name, the service address, and the tenant's and owner's signatures
- A photo id
- A $100 deposit
- A completed, signed Landlord/Tenant application
- If there are two or more units on one meter, the service must stay in the owner's name
- If you have any past due bills, they must be paid first
If you own, the following paperwork is necessary:
- Proof of ownership such as a deed or closing statement
- A photo id
- A completed, signed Owner application
- If you have any past due bills, they must be paid first
Once you have the necessary paperwork, you may:
- Sign up in person at the Utility Billing Office located at 35 S Paint St, Chillicothe OH 45601
- Mail the completed, signed application, a copy of your photo id, a $100 deposit (if necessary), and any other required documents to the Billing Office
- If you own the property, you may print, scan (in PDF) and email the completed, signed application, photo id, and any other required documents to chillicothewater@chillicotheoh.gov
- If you own the property, you may fax the completed, signed application, photo id, and any other required documents to 740-773-2191
All turn-ons are scheduled for the next business day between 9am - 11am. An adult must be present to turn on the service.
How do I stop service:
- Sign the termination form at the billing office
- Print, scan (in PDF) then email the completed, signed termination form to the billing office to chillicothewater@chillicotheoh.gov
- Fax the completed, signed termination form to 740-773-2192.
Please note that we cannot backdate your termination request. We must read the meter in order to process your request. If you have a credit on your account after your final bill is processed, a check will be mailed to the address provided on the termination form.
City of Chillicothe Utility Online Pay enables you to:
- View your most recent account balance
- Conveniently make a payment with no enrollment or signup required
- Use credit/debit cards or a checking account to make a payment
